Your success should fit you, not someone else.
Today, we’re talking about success, and more importantly, what it actually looks like for you.
Does success mean getting that promotion and becoming a manager at work? Does it mean leaving the nine-to-five behind and working for yourself? Or maybe it’s a mix of both, with plenty of time for the things that matter most to you.
Here’s the key: your picture of success has to be painted with your brush. It can’t be what your parents wanted for you, or what your friends think you should do, or what someone on Instagram is bragging about.
What is your picture of financial success? Is it $2k a month, $20k a month, or even $200k a month? That is for you to decide. And once you’ve decided what success looks like, you need to write a plan to get there.
Success won’t just drop out of the sky and land in your lap. You have to know where you’re heading or you’ll end up wandering in never ending circles.
Take some time today to imagine your version of success. Write it down. Then sketch out the steps to make it real.
What then? What happens if I achieve my picture of success? Well, again, that is up to YOU. You do not have to keep striving for more, more, MORE. You can be happy in your success. Do not give into pressure from others to keep pushing onward, it is for YOU to decide your level of success. Enjoy it, be in it, and be present at the top of the hill you have climbed. Now, before you decide to climb another hill (and there is always another higher hill to climb), ask yourself ‘Why? Why do I want to?’. This is not to promote apathy, far from it, this is to ensure that you are chasing your own dreams, not those painted for you by others.
What’s in your picture of success? Big house? Flexible hours? A job title you’re proud of? Write it, own it, and plan how you are going to start moving toward it.
