You don’t need everyone’s gold star of approval.
Today’s habit is simple to say, but a lot harder to put into practice. It’s time to let it go.
Let go of needing every single person to like you. Let go of twisting yourself into knots to fit someone else’s idea of how your life “should” look. Let go of proving that you are right or proving that you belong.
Ask yourself why you’re doing it. Why are you bending yourself into someone else’s version of who you should be? Why are you chasing their nod of approval?
Then comes the freeing part. You simply decide to stop. Yes, I know, it’s easier said than done, but just stop. That friend that tells you when you should come see them, and what to do, and when to do it, but never reciprocates? Let her go, she’s not a real friend. The family member that tells you how to act, what to wear, how to have your hair? Let them go! In most cases, it will NOT be easy. However, it is a short term pain for long term gain. You free yourself of the mental burden, and open yourself to new possibilities of positivity and growth.
Do what you feel is right. Choose what makes YOU happy. And if that doesn’t line up with someone else’s rulebook? That sounds like a ‘them‘ problem.
The moment you start living for your own joy instead of other people’s expectations, you get your energy back. You get your peace back. You get YOU back.
What’s one thing you can “let go” of today? Write it down. Say it out loud. Then, let it go.
